Welcome to the Verses & Visions Truth Tellers List
The Frontier Man reveals the inaugural list of 30 independent journalists, academics, and creators speaking the truth that he follows and recommends
“Yet in this dark realm, heroes arise,
Whistleblowers and journalists, cutting through lies.
Snowden, Assange, their lives’ sacrifice,
Truth tellers face prison, not a fancy prize. On the tyranny’s edge, the despairs persist,
Totalitarian nightmare spreads its iron fist.
Staring down the abyss, our hope starts to wane,
Yet, resisting this doom is the ultimate aim.”
Censorship of free speech in the US and Western countries has increased dramatically in recent years, leading to major loss of trust and rapidly declining audiences of the mainstream media. Government and corporate censorship, propaganda and misinformation continue at large scale today, as documented by many journalistic, congressional, academic and judicial investigations and publications discussed in the Chapter 1 of my recently published Guide to Video Production with Artificial Intelligence. Given the comprehensive failure of mainstream media to inform the public and act in the public interest, independent journalists, academics and creators are now essentially the main and most important source of truthful information and analysis for citizens who can no longer stand the lying and pervasive conflicts of interest of the mainstream media anymore.
I have been frequently asked to recommend credible independent journalists, academics and creators who are committed to truthful reporting and analysis and are worth following. In response, I decided to publish a list of voices I believe are worth following as some of the most credible sources of information and analysis. I plan to update this list from time to time, adding additional names and removing those who in my view no longer meet the criteria. Welcome to the inaugural Verses & Visions Truth Tellers List, please enjoy and share!

Criteria for Inclusion
I have included journalists, academics and creators who in my opinion meet these criteria:
Have a genuine interest in a truthful debate
Have original, interesting insights on the subjects they cover
Base their news and analysis on facts and have expert knowledge in the subject matter they discuss
Do not knowingly engage in propaganda or misinformation
Do not engage in ad hominem attacks and focus on the substance of the opposing arguments instead of personal attacks
Are willing to listen to dissenting views and change their own views when new credible information becomes available
Do not knowingly mislead the public
I realize that this is a high standard but I believe that we must insist on all the media we consume to meet these standards or lose our patronage. If we stop reading and watching the media that do not meet these standards, they will have no choice but to change their way or lose our business to those who do. This power is in our hands and must be exercised if we want to stop the intentionally infantile and misleading public discourse which is preventing us from debating and ultimately addressing the most important and pressing problems facing the world today. Without an informed debate, our problems will only multiply. I do not believe that any of the major mainstream media meet these standards and therefore in my view they do not deserve our attention and support. These courageous Truth Tellers do. I recommend that you subscribe to them on censorship resistant platforms, read, watch and share their work, pay for their paid subscriptions if you can afford it, and tell your friends about them. Let’s spread the truth!
It is important to point out that I disagree and will continue to disagree with many of the political views of these Truth Tellers. The degree to which I agree with their political views is not a factor I used to decide whether to include them in this list. Whether or not they are considered “left” or “right” also was not a factor.
Important: I recommend that whenever possible you subscribe to these Truth Tellers on the censorship resistant platforms (covered in detail in Chapter 11 of the Guide) such as Rumble, Locals (owned by Rumble), Substack, Rokfin, Nostr and to some extent X (formerly Twitter) although X sadly recently increased censorship and the trend is clearly negative.
I strongly recommend against following them (or anyone else for that matter) on censored platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Many of these truth tellers have already been banned by these platforms, the rest will likely sooner or later be banned by those platforms for speaking the truth. Even if they are not banned, you will be unlikely to see their posts on these networks as their posts and videos are constantly banned, shadow banned and demonetized. More on censorship in Chapter 1 of the Guide.
Important Disclaimers
This is not meant to be a comprehensive list. There are many other excellent credible independent journalists, academics and creators not mentioned in this list. I will add more over time. You are welcome to nominate additional truth tellers, I will consider them and will add them to the list if they meet the criteria in my view
While I try to be as objective as possible in who I include on the list and have followed most of these truth tellers for years and therefore know their track records, this is still one person’s opinion, however well informed. It’s impossible to be completely objective and some judgements involved are necessarily subjective. Do your own research and form your own opinions
Obviously, I do not mean to imply that all information and analysis by these Truth Tellers will always be correct. They are humans who are operating in a very uncertain environment with limited information. While I believe that they genuinely try to discover and tell the truth, they will sometimes be wrong or misinformed
1. Julian Assange (imprisoned in UK pending US extradition request)
Julian Paul Assange (born in 1971) is an Australian editor, publisher, and activist, best known for founding WikiLeaks in 2006. His work has sparked global debates on freedom of information, government transparency, and national security. Assange's WikiLeaks became well known in 2010 following the publication of leaks from US Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning. This included footage of a US airstrike in Baghdad, military logs from Afghanistan and Iraq, and US diplomatic cables. In November 2010, Sweden issued a European arrest warrant for Assange, related to a Swedish investigation. After losing his appeal, Assange sought refuge in the Embassy of Ecuador in London in June 2012, where he was granted asylum due to fears of political persecution and possible extradition to the United States. However, he was arrested in April 2019 following the withdrawal of his asylum by Ecuador, leading to his confinement in maximum security HM Prison Belmarsh in London. Julian remains a political prisoner in the UK today. Wikipedia
The Frontier Man’s Take
Julian Assange is one of the most important truth tellers of our generation. His publishing of documents submitted by whistleblowers to Wikileaks has uncovered some of the worst war crimes and government abuses and had an unprecedented impact on informing the public about government wrongdoing. His continued imprisonment for publishing the truth is an unforgivable injustice that must end. I speak about Julian and his sacrifice for truth in my poem Secrets.

28. Edward Snowden (In Exile)
Edward Joseph Snowden, born in 1983 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is a former American intelligence contractor who became widely known for leaking classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013. Snowden worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and as a contractor for the NSA. His roles in these organizations provided him with access to classified information. In May 2013, Snowden traveled to Hong Kong, where he met with journalists from The Guardian and The Washington Post. He shared thousands of classified NSA documents revealing the extent of the U.S. government's surveillance activities. These documents showed that the NSA was collecting phone records and internet data on a massive scale, including from American citizens and foreign leaders. The publications of these documents had revealed numerous global surveillance programs, sparking significant debates over mass surveillance, government secrecy, and the balance between national security and information privacy. His disclosures led to changes in policy and law. The USA Freedom Act of 2015, for example, limited the bulk collection of telecommunication metadata. Snowden sought asylum in several countries. Eventually, Russia granted him asylum and ultimately citizenship. Unable to return to the US for fear of political persecution, he remains in exile in Russia today. Edward also serves as President of the Freedom of Press Foundation. Wikipedia
Edward Snowden’s life and disclosures have been covered in Glenn Greenwald’s book No Place To Hide (2014), his own book Permanent Record (2019), Oliver Stone’s film Snowden, and Laura Poitras’s film Citizenfour. All worth reading and watching.
The Frontier Man’s Take
I believe Snowden’s impact cannot be overestimated. His disclosures cost him his freedom and uncovered mass government surveillance, censorship and other major abuses. I speak about Snowden and his sacrifice for truth in my poem Secrets
