I sought the love the world revered,
A love well-praised, a love well-feared.
It rose in echoes, loud and bright,
Yet vanished right into the night.
I chased the ties that others praised,
Their fleeting glances, voices raised.
Yet every bond was but a chain,
A mirrored dream, a borrowed flame.
For love was never meant to be
A prize to win, a lock, a key.
Not something scarce, nor fought, nor earned,
A light that glows, not light that burns.
I found it not in fleeting hands,
Nor in the world’s grandest plans,
But in the quiet end of me,
In light divine which sets us free.
The child’s laugh, the elder’s gaze,
The stranger’s kindness, love ablaze.
No score to keep, no role to play,
Just love that gives itself away.
Not bound by blood, nor creed, nor name,
Not shaped by fortune, nor by fame.
It asks for nothing, fears no end—
A love that simply is, my friend.
